Mental Health Month comes around every year in May. It’s a time to advocate and push for mental health awareness. In recognition of Mental Health Month 2021, Voices of Recovery in conjunction with the MENTAL HEALTH COMMITTEE of San Mateo County conducted a discussion panel to bring awareness by advocating on a topic that is silently loud, “criminalization of mental health”. This Mental Health Discussion panel involved the screening of a film by Brave New Films, “This is Crazy : Criminalizing Mental Health”, followed by the panel discussion.
VORSMC invited panelists with lived experience to shed some light on this important topic to reduce stigma and raise awareness in the community. The discussion panel was open to the community and involved an interactive Q&A session with our panelists.
